My actual style icon is more like Audrey Hepburn meets Carrie Bradshaw

So the husband has a squadron semi-formal coming up and I needed a dress. After looking online and being too chicken to buy anything because $150 is a lot to spend on something you haven't tried on and if it doesn't fit you have to send it back and it's just too annoying, I went to Nordstrom.

They have a lot of mother-of-the-bride dresses.

So I found the only size 2 that didn't look like something my mom would have worn to my wedding and tried it on. I liked it and bought it. This is it...


I kept thinking, "Blake Lively...this is very Blake Lively. I want my hair in a messy bun like Blake Lively wears sometimes."

If you're not familiar with Blake Lively, she's a gorgeous, tall drink of water on Gossip Girl. I don't watch Gossip Girl but I do read fashion blogs where Miss Lively is featured and I could have sworn I'd seen her in a similar dress. So I went to Go Fug Yourself's archives and voila!

The same blue color, the same one shoulder floral thingamajig, a similar length. So while I can't call her my fashion icon, or even say I'm a fan, apparently I file away random celebrity ensembles to recreate when I have a special occasion. Let's hope I don't subconsciously fall in love with Ke$ha's sense of style. I don't enjoy looking like I woke up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy...when he just crawled out of a dumpster.

Also, I think I witnessed a walk of shame this morning. Sort of unrelated but it involved waking up in the morning and I felt I should tell someone.
